Our Category Buying team partners closely with Planning to curate exciting, customer-first ranges that drive sales, maximise profit and keep us ahead of the curve. From spotting what's trending to building forward-thinking assortments, the team plays a key role in delivering a platform of choice for our customers.
Working hand-in-hand with Finance, Operations and teams across our wider group, Commercial helps bring our strategy to life — ensuring we make smart decisions, forecast accurately and deliver the future of fashion, every day.
We are currently looking for an Assistant Designer to join our own brand team. Reporting into our Own Brand Buying Manager, this role is essential in driving the conception and development of all product in your allocated category by always driving innovation & creativity.
About The RoleUnderstand and drive company wide strategies and OKR'sMaintain a close link with manufacturers to ensure seamless handover of developments, taking direct accountability for making sure all sample technical packs submitted are accurate, completed and submitted in line with set timeframesCommunicate regularly with the Design Team to ensure any critical design issues or developments are highlighted and resolved when requiredSelect, develop, and source fabrications, colours, trims etc. in line with company standardsAttends fit sessions and uses technical ability to ensure best fit is achieved and approve final samples with GT when requiredSupport with sample management, tech packs and tech drawingSupport with trend forecastingApprove all details of final product in line with original design briefUnderstands the manufacturing structure of the supplier's business in order to recognise cost & manufacturing opportunities for every design submittedParticipating in range planning meetings to ensure the range is balanced in styling, colour and fabricationsEnsuring range boards are up to date and planned accordingly
What It TakesMinimum of 2 years of experience working in a design team with Product Development or DesignExperience with Print, Fabric and trim developmentExcellent communication and negotiation skillsStrong trend forecasting skills with a commercial eye for fashionAbility to time manage work load in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasks effectivelyProficient in Illustrator and Photoshop would be advantageousKnowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements
