About This Role
Your new role:
The purpose of this role is, under the supervision of senior medical staff, to provide high-quality, safe care to patients within surgical specialties and subspecialties. This role will include attending to both emergency and elective admissions, review of inpatients, and participation in ward rounds and outpatient clinics. This role also provides supervision, feedback, teaching and support to interns, house officers and medical students.
This position includes responsibilities for delivering education and training to medical students and other staff, under the supervision of the University of Queensland. Fifty percent of the role is dedicated to this function

Leadership in improving and developing UQ PAH Southside Clinical Unit programs, including How to Be a Better Teacher, How to Be a Better Intern and Training PathwaysUndergo further professional training in Education, as applicableMedical student training that includesMaking a substantial contribution to supervision and teaching of undergraduate students across all 4 years of the MD programContribute to undergraduate teaching at University of Queensland (UQ) PAH Southside Clinical UnitAssist with the development of learning materials and assessment for undergraduate studentsAssist with the delivery of student assessment eg Direct Observation of procedural skills (DOPS) and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)Contribute to the administration of educational activities within UQ PAH Southside Clinical UnitWork to develop skills as a simulation educator and contribute to simulation education for students at UQ PAH Southside Clinical UnitVascular access training of medical studentsMultiple medical interview station examinationCreate examination questions for OSCE and MCQ exams.Contribute to educational research projects where applicablePresentation at Grand Rounds

About Us
Princess Alexandra Hospital:
The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.
We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.
We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
