Security and Communications Apprentice

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Security and Communications Technician Apprentice to join our team in Somersby.

Crossmuller is an innovative and progressive multi-disciplined company specialising in manufacturing, engineering, automation, electrical, communications and integrated security solutions. Our Security division designs, installs, commissions and maintains advanced electronic security systems across commercial, industrial and critical infrastructure environments throughout Australia.

This is a paid apprenticeship where you'll earn while you learn, working towards a nationally recognised qualification while gaining real-world experience alongside our experienced technicians.

This is not your typical apprenticeship. You'll be exposed to a wide range of technologies and systems used by some of Australia's leading industrial, manufacturing and commercial organisations.

What You'll Be Doing

• Installing and commissioning CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection and Intercom systems

• Assisting with structured cabling, fibre optic and communications infrastructure installations

• Learning integrated security management systems and IP-based security technologies

• Testing, fault-finding and maintaining electronic security and communications systems

• Assisting with the programming and commissioning of security systems

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and site plans

• Working safely in accordance with industry standards and WHS requirements

• Working alongside experienced technicians on major industrial, commercial and critical infrastructure projects

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills

• Attention to detail, quality and safety

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Good computer literacy

• An interest in electronics, networking, security technology or communications

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Current Driver's Licence

• Ability to obtain a NSW Class 2 Security Licence

• Ability to pass a National Police Check and obtain a Working with Children Check

Desirable

• Completion of Year 12

• Previous experience with electronics, IT, networking or technical studies

• White Card (or willingness to obtain)

• Experience using hand and power tools
