Senior Associate Lawyer – Commercial Litigation | Automotive & Consumer Law
Sydney CBD | $170,000 – $210,000 + Super | Full-time

I’m working with a well-established Sydney law firm looking to appoint an experienced Senior Associate to its Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior litigator who enjoys running matters autonomously and providing commercially focused advice. The practice handles a broad range of commercial and civil disputes, with a particular focus on Australian Consumer Law claims involving motor vehicles, contractual disputes and other commercial claims.

The role

You will work closely with the Partners while taking ownership of your own matters from initial advice through to resolution.

Your work will include:

• Commercial and civil litigation
• Australian Consumer Law disputes, including motor vehicle matters
• Contractual and other commercial disputes
• Advising on litigation strategy, liability, risk, evidence and settlement
• Drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions, advices and settlement documentation
• Managing discovery, subpoenas, expert evidence and briefs to counsel
• Attending directions hearings, mediations and conferences
• Managing court deadlines, budgets and client reporting
• Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the continued development of the practice

The position offers genuine autonomy while still providing direct access to experienced Partners.


About you

Ideally, you will have:

• 5+ years PAE in commercial or civil litigation
• Strong experience in contractual disputes and Australian Consumer Law matters
• Automotive or motor vehicle dispute experience would be highly regarded
• Strong knowledge of NSW court practice and procedure
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and client-management skills
• The ability to independently manage litigation matters and competing deadlines
• A commercial and solutions-focused approach to advising clients
• Advocacy, mediation or ADR experience would be advantageous
• Previous mentoring or supervision experience would also be well regarded

What’s on offer

Salary guide: $170,000 – $210,000 + super, depending on experience.
