The Power Systems Lead plays a key role in the design, delivery, and ongoing performance of critical electrical infrastructure supporting our Australian data centre operations. Reporting to the VP, Engineering, this position partners with internal stakeholders and external engineering teams to review and validate designs, support construction and commissioning, and drive safe, reliable, and efficient power systems across the full project and operational lifecycle.

Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification recognised under Engineers Australia’s assessment framework.
- Registered as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia, or working towards registration; or eligibility for registration as a Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ) in Queensland and/or as a Registered Engineer under the relevant state scheme (e.g. NSW).
- 5–7 years of relevant post-qualification experience in power systems, electrical infrastructure, or related fields, preferably within data centres, electrical utilities, or heavy industry.
- Proven expertise in high-voltage substations and medium-voltage distribution systems in utility or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of Protection & Control systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, and protection relays.
- Sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards (including AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, AS 1243) and compliance obligations under applicable state WHS/OHS legislation.
- Familiarity with Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Permits to Work (PTW), and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures in accordance with Australian safety frameworks.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and control diagrams; proficient in root cause analysis and in-depth technical investigations.
- Comfortable working in field environments alongside trades and technical teams when required.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and guide without direct authority.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Effective communicator across both technical and executive audiences, with strong written and verbal English skills.
- Self-motivated with high attention to detail and the ability to work independently with limited direction.
- Adaptable to uncertainty and capable of making sound decisions with limited information.
- Willingness to support site operations outside standard business hours when required.
- Proficient in electrical engineering software tools and modelling platforms (e.g. ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent).
