New graduates joining HNELHD benefit from working in a supportive environment that values collaboration, professional growth, and high-quality outcomes for birthing parents, infants, and families.Role Description This is an on-site role, based in New Lambton Heights, NSW, is designed for undergraduate and postgraduate new graduate midwives commencing their professional practice. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing safe, respectful, and evidence-based midwifery care across the continuum of pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, under appropriate supervision. The role involves conducting antenatal assessments, supporting labor and birth, completing postnatal checks, promoting infant feeding and parenting confidence, and documenting care in line with professional and organizational standards. New graduate midwives will collaborate with midwives, obstetricians, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff to deliver coordinated care, participate in handovers and clinical meetings, and engage in quality and safety initiatives. The role also includes ongoing professional development, participation in orientation and graduate support programs, and adherence to relevant policies, guidelines, and codes of conduct.QualificationsRecognized degree in Midwifery (undergraduate or postgraduate) and eligibility for registration as a midwife with the relevant regulatory authority (e.g., NMBA/AHPRA).Foundational skills( within scope of practice) in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, including maternal and newborn assessment, clinical observations, and basic emergency response under supervision.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build therapeutic relationships with birthing parents, families, and multidisciplinary team members.Ability to work effectively in a busy clinical environment, manage competing priorities, and follow clinical protocols and documentation standards.Commitment to evidence-based practice, reflective learning, and participation in supervision, mentoring, and professional development activities.Awareness of cultural safety and the ability to provide inclusive, respectful care to people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.Willingness to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required in a 24/7 maternity care environment.Basic digital literacy and ability to use electronic medical records and clinical information systems; previous clinical
