Cleaning Team Leader

TUC Cleaning Co is a new initiative of The Underground Collaborative, a Perth-based social enterprise that builds capacity through employment, education and empowerment for women who have experienced family and domestic violence and at-risk young people.

Specialising in builders and sparkle cleans for the post-construction industry, TUC Cleaning Co provides award-wage employment, practical skills and wraparound support in a values-led workplace.

As Team Leader, you will play a key role in overseeing daily operations of TUC Cleaning Co. This includes supervising cleaning jobs across various sites, supporting and mentoring Team Members (many of whom are entering employment for the first time or have been out of work for an extended period of time), ensuring safety and quality standards, and maintaining strong client relationships.

You’ll be an experienced and reliable leader who is passionate about supporting people from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed in the workplace. You’ll lead by example - balancing practical cleaning work with trauma-informed support and team development and will assist Team Members become work-ready.

You'll coordinate day-to-day cleaning operations, build strong relationships with clients and contractors, and ensure every job is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

A sound understanding of post-construction cleaning and service delivery is key to success in this role.

Ideally you will have a mix of attributes and experience, however of most importance is your willingness to making a difference and supporting the cleaning team.

Success in this role is measured not only by the quality of the cleaning delivered, but by the growth, confidence and development of the people you lead.

This will initially be a casual role as the business ramps up with the view to transition to part-time and potentially full-time.

• Coordinate cleaning jobs with clients, including confirming schedules, site access and any special requirements

• Plan daily work schedules, allocate Team Members to jobs and organise tasks on site

• Lead a small team on-site delivering builders and sparkle (post-construction) cleans across Perth

• Build and maintain a professional relationship with all stakeholders, including clients and contractors

• Provide hands-on training, mentoring and day-to-day supervision to Team Members.

• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture

• Complete job checklists, site documentation, and quality assurance tasks

• Ensure all work is completed to high quality and safety standards, including site quality checks before jobs are signed off

• Monitor supplies and equipment, reporting maintenance needs

• Maintain appropriate storage and use of chemicals

• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality and efficiency

• Oversee laundry duties, including removal and replacement of old/dirty cleaning cloths, sorting, folding and storage

• Model TUC’s values of respect, empowerment, and integrity in all work

• Provide positive, practical guidance and support to Team Members as you assist them to become work ready

• Minimum 2 years of professional cleaning experience - builders cleans, aged care or hospital experience preferred

• Experience supervising a team or mentoring staff

• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the ability to support people with barriers to employment desirable

• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills

• Strong time management skills and ability to effectively manage a range of tasks and responsibilities

• Reliable, organised, and values-driven

• Calm under pressure

• Take pride in developing people and enjoy coaching others

• Holds

  • WA Driver’s Licence

  • White Card (or willing to obtain)

  • National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)

  • First Aid Certificate (desirable)
