The Position
We're seeking an experienced and proactive HSE Manager with a strong background in renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, or major construction projects.
By joining our team, you'll play a critical role in supporting the delivery of major renewable energy projects across regional Western Australia, including solar farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission infrastructure, substations, and associated civil and electrical works.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide expert health, safety, and environmental leadership across all project phases, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, client expectations, and company standards while fostering a positive safety culture throughout the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
As the HSE Manager, you will be responsible for driving site safety performance, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives, including:
- Develop and implement the organisation's overall Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategy, objectives and performance framework.
- Direct and coordinate the organisation's HSE function to ensure alignment with business objectives and corporate governance requirements.
- Lead and manage the organisation's HSE function, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, regulatory requirements and operational priorities.
- Direct the planning, allocation and utilisation of HSE resources across business operations and projects.
- Manage the performance, capability development and succession planning of HSE personnel to support organisational objectives.
- Develop, review and approve organisation-wide HSE policies, standards, procedures and management systems.
- Ensure the organisation's HSE management framework remains compliant with legislative, regulatory and industry requirements.
- Establish and oversee the organisation's HSE risk management framework.
- Monitor organisational HSE risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented across all business operations.
About You You are an experienced HSE professional who thrives in a dynamic construction environment and is passionate about creating safe, compliant, and high-performing workplaces.
Selection Criteria - Minimum 5 years' HSE leadership experience within renewables, mining, utilities, transmission, infrastructure, or major construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience working on large-scale renewable energy projects such as solar farms, wind farms, BESS, substations, or transmission infrastructure.
- Proven experience implementing and managing HSE management systems within a construction environment.
- Strong understanding of ICAM, TapRooT, or equivalent incident investigation methodologies.
- Experience managing subcontractor compliance and contractor HSE performance.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence positive safety behaviours at all organisational levels.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring capability.
- Excellent organisational, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Ability and willingness to work on project sites in regional Western Australia.
