About the role
We are seeking a full-time (Monday- Friday) qualified Social Worker to join our Student Assist team, providing advocacy, support, and case management services to UWA students.
Reporting to the Associate Director (Student Services), you will deliver holistic, student-centred support to individuals experiencing academic, financial, and personal challenges. You will also collaborate with Guild councillors in supporting effective student advocacy outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing individual support, advocacy, and case management to students
Assisting students to navigate academic, financial, and welfare issues
Liaising with University staff and external organisations
Supporting students through grievance and resolution processes
Making appropriate referrals to internal and external services
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
A relevant qualification in Social Work
Minimum 2 years’ experience in social work or a related field
Strong skills in assessment, case management, and client support
Ability to work with a diverse student population while maintaining confidentiality
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities
A proactive, collaborative, and team-focused approach
Experience or familiarity with the tertiary education sector (desirable)
