Project Engineer

NES Fircroft are supporting our client, a Subsea Engineering Specialist Company, who are recruiting a Project Engineer to join their Perth Office.

This role offers exposure to cutting-edge project management and hands-on engineering tasks, while collaborating closely with experienced senior engineers, project managers, suppliers, and fabricators to bring projects from concept through to completion.

As a Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in technical drafting, 3D modelling, managing project documentation, tracking progress and coordinating with third-party fabricators. Your contributions will help ensure quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and on-time project delivery—all within an ISO 9001 quality management environment. Occasional domestic or international travel may be required, providing exciting opportunities to engage directly with site-based activities.

Required Skills:

• Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Materials Engineering, or related discipline.
• Up to 5 years’ relevant experience with a strong foundation in engineering principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; capable of developing and managing trackers, reports, and technical documents.
• SolidWorks experience, including familiarity with PDM vaults, drawing numbering, revision control, and recognised drafting standards (AS 1100/ISO).
• Strong written communication skills with an ability to produce clear and structured technical documentation.
• High attention to detail and ability to interpret drawings, specifications, standards, and procedures.
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and follow-up abilities.
• Practical mindset and eagerness to learn and grow within the role.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience or exposure to fabrication, manufacturing, QA/QC, testing, or project delivery environments.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Understanding of inspection and testing documentation such as ITPs (Inspection Test Plans), MDRs (Material Data Records), FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), SATs (Site Acceptance Tests), TQs (Technical Queries), MOCs (Management of Change), NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and material traceability.
• Previous involvement or interest in cathodic protection, corrosion control, offshore structures, pipelines, oil and gas, or subsea projects.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness and ability to undertake ad hoc domestic or international travel as project demands arise.
• Capability to support site and offshore activities, potentially including fabrication yard visits, offshore inspections, and installation support.
• Ability to pass basic offshore medicals (e.g., OGUK/AMSA) and hold or obtain BOSIET/HUET certifications. Training will be provided if not currently held.
