Electronics and Communications Apprenticeship

What you'll be doing…

You will complete a Certificate III Electronics and Communications qualification over 48 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with Zeal Futures Host Employer, Whitehaven, at their site at Maules Creek!

During your apprenticeship you will gain formal training as well as on-site experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to perform and learn:

• Installing and maintaining communication networks
• Working with fibre optic and copper cabling systems
• Testing, fault-finding and repairing communications equipment
• Installing and maintaining radio and wireless communication systems
• Supporting network infrastructure and industrial communication systems
• Working with CCTV, security and access control systems
• Reading technical drawings and communication schematics
• Following industry-leading safety and operational procedures
• Perform additional duties as required, within the scope of the apprentice’s skill set and abilities

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Demonstrated understanding of safety and safe work practices and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Ability to follow guidelines and directions accurately and carefully.
• Effective teamwork skills
• Commitment to the full duration of the apprenticeship and study requirements
• Eagerness to learn and develop new skills and knowledge
• Demonstrated interest and passion for the electrical trade and mining industry
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Openness to constructive feedback and willingness to apply guidance for continuous improvement
• Possession of a current driver's license or actively working towards obtaining it before the start of the apprenticeship.
• Ability to undergo an Order 45 – Mining Medical

Successful applicants will be commencing in late 2026 - early 2027 and are required to be based within the North West region of New South Wales, as these roles are site-based.
