Oracle Community Services Pty Ltd We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to provide assessment, intervention and ongoing occupational therapy support to clients with a range of functional, developmental and participation needs. The Occupational Therapist will assess clients' functional abilities and identify barriers affecting their capacity to participate effectively in everyday activities.
This may include self-care, mobility, communication, education, social participation, community access, independent living and other activities relevant to the client's individual circumstances and goals. The position requires a person-centred and evidence-based approach, with the Occupational Therapist working closely with clients, families, carers and other health and community professionals to develop appropriate intervention strategies and achieve meaningful functional outcomes. Task & responsibilities Assessing client's functional abilities, needs and limitations through appropriate occupational therapy assessments and clinical observation. Planning, developing and implementing individualised occupational therapy treatment and intervention programs based on identified needs and goals. Applying evidence-based occupational therapy practices and professional clinical reasoning when assessing and treating clients.
Supporting clients to improve their independence and participation in everyday activities, including self-care, mobility, education, social participation and community activities. Assessing clients' home, community and other relevant environments and recommending appropriate modifications where required. Assessing the need for assistive technology, adaptive equipment and other aids and recommending appropriate solutions to improve clients' safety, independence and functional capacity.
Monitoring clients' progress and reviewing and modifying intervention plans according to their changing needs and outcomes. Providing education, advice and practical strategies to clients, families and carers to support the implementation of therapy goals outside formal therapy sessions. Preparing professional assessment reports, progress reports, treatment plans and other clinical documentation.
Maintaining accurate and timely client records in accordance with professional, organisational, legislative and funding requirements. Liaising and collaborating with families, carers, medical practitioners, allied health professionals, support workers, educators and other relevant stakeholders where appropriate. Participating in case conferences and multidisciplinary discussions concerning clients' treatment, progress and support requirements.
Maintaining professional knowledge and undertaking continuing professional development in accordance with applicable AHPRA requirements. Ensuring occupational therapy services are provided in accordance with professional standards, relevant legislation, organisational policies and applicable funding requirements. Identifying opportunities to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of occupational therapy services.
Qualification & experience Applicants must hold a recognised bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience gained following completion of the qualification. Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA.
Sound knowledge of occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning and intervention principles. Demonstrated ability to assess functional capacity and develop appropriate individualised intervention strategies. Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, families, carers and other health and community professionals. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Current Australian driver's licence and ability to travel to clients where required. Current Working with Children Check, where applicable to the clients being supported.
Relevant professional experience as an Occupational Therapist, particularly within disability, community, paediatric, rehabilitation or related services, will be highly regarded.
