W Sydney is now casting for a Assistant Financial Controller (12 Month Maternity Cover) to help lead and assist the hotel Finance Team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this integral role provides financial management and team leadership to the business and presents an amazing opportunity to play a key role in business success of the hotel.

Job Summary

The Assistant Financial Controller's day-to-day responsibilities is to maintain the operational finance integrity of the hotel, through delivery of reports on time, daily reconciliations, preparation of monthly journals and balance sheet accounts. Key responsibilities include but not limited to;

Supporting the operational and management team through accurate and effective financial reporting and maintain statutory reporting requirementLead month-end processes and financial reconciliationsDrive cost control initiatives and support departmental budgetingConduct internal and external auditsMentor finance staff and internsCollaborate with department heads to ensure financial targets are metAssist DOF and FC to streamline accounting functions and operations and help provide financial analysis and reportsSupport the Marriott “Information Protection Policy” and conform to all requirements of the hotel and legislation

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or HospitalityMinimum 3 years’ experience in hotel finance/accountingStrong written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skillsExperience with Opera/POS or PeopleSoft is a plus
