Sales Career Opportunity

Mainfreight Wharf is the container transport division of the Mainfreight Group and plays a critical role in our international supply chain. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and career‑driven individual to join our team as a Sales Cadet based at our Altona Site.

This role offers a structured entry point into a long‑term sales career within an international logistics business, with a clear pathway into a Business Development Executive (BDE) or Customer Development Executive (CDE) role upon successful completion.

About the Cadetship
Our renowned sales cadetship runs for 12–24 months, providing full exposure to the Mainfreight business while developing you into a consultative, solutions‑focused salesperson as opposed to just a transactional salesperson.

You will:

• Spend a minimum of 12 months in customer service, handling data entry, customer enquiries, and daily internal and external communication

• Rotate through key teams including administration, operations, depot services, and sales

• Attend one week of formal training at our Sydney or Melbourne training centre

• Participate in fortnightly one-on-one debriefs and coaching with the state sales manager

• Attend bi-monthly state-based sales meetings and conferences

• Be assigned and given direct access to a sales mentor – an existing sales team member with demonstrated success to help you

• Participate in external training courses to support your development

About You

No previous sales or supply chain experience is required. We are looking for individuals who are curious, motivated, and committed to building a long‑term sales career. Some of our best salespeople have come from customer service roles, recent high school or university graduates, or career-change backgrounds.

You ideally will have:

• A strong interest in sales and consultative selling

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• An interest in data and analytics

• A genuine willingness to learn
