National Parks Association of NSW
About the role
The National Parks Association of NSW (NPA) is a member-driven community organisation dedicated to the protection and appreciation of nature.
Our work has two complementary lines of focus. Securing the long-term conservation of nature and associated cultural values is a primary objective—so that our core natural areas remain safeguarded for generations to come. To this is added our unique role in promoting diverse and rewarding opportunities for people to explore, study, care for, learn about, appreciate and enjoy nature.
NPA is an incorporated association and registered charity with DGR status. It has a strongly decentralised structure of regional and specialist member groups, providing meaningful opportunities for member involvement throughout the organisation.
The CEO assists the NPA Executive to develop and implement the Strategic Plan, build a prominent public profile and fulfil regulatory and other governance obligations. The CEO is accountable for managing day-to-day operations, staff and communications, and provides consistent high-level advice to the Executive members.
In the role, you will:
You will be an enthusiastic and committed leader with high level management skills, experience with reporting to a Board, and ability to engage with senior government officials and elected representatives. Together with sound political judgement, you will have a calm, patient and persevering demeanour.
Being an excellent spokesperson who can communicate with broad audiences, you will inspire, motivate and collaborate with our members, supporters and professional staff. A genuine commitment to nature will be evident from your professional career or personal background.
It’s expected you will have relevant degree qualifications in fields such as the life sciences, cultural heritage, environmental policy, planning or law, or have extensive equivalent experience in related fields.
