Our broad range of services includes general practice, child and family services, child and maternal health, chronic disease management, social and emotional wellbeing support, allied health, drug and alcohol counselling, home and community care, immunisation, client transport, childcare and corporate services.

About the role

We are seeking a Family Support Practitioner to join our team in Morwell.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside Aboriginal children and families, providing culturally safe, respectful and strengths-based support that helps families achieve their goals and creates better outcomes for children.

In this role, you will:

• Provide high-quality family support and effective interventions that build parenting capacity and strengthen family functioning.
• Work collaboratively with Aboriginal families to promote child safety and positive conditions for children’s development.
• Develop strong, respectful relationships with families and support them to identify their needs, strengths and goals.
• Develop and implement family support plans in partnership with clients.
• Ensure all service delivery is culturally safe, culturally responsive and respectful of Aboriginal culture and community.
• Work collaboratively with other professionals, services and agencies to ensure the best interests of children and families are supported.
• Liaise with the Department of Health and Human Services and other relevant organisations to coordinate quality services for Aboriginal families.
• Participate as a member of care teams and professional networks, contributing to case planning and ongoing risk assessments.
• Ensure service delivery aligns with legislative requirements.
• Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality client records in RDAC’s electronic record system and in accordance with organisational standards and obligations.

About you

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, culturally respectful and committed to achieving positive outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum Diploma in Community Services or a relevant field.
• A current Victorian Working with Children Check.
• A satisfactory National Police/Criminal History Check.
• Satisfactory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
• A strong commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed practice.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and collaboration skills.
• The ability to work effectively with families, professionals and community services.
