Our client is a global banking group with an established presence in the Australian market, providing wholesale and corporate banking services to a diverse client base. Backed by an international network and a long-standing reputation in the finance sector, our client continues to grow its local footprint and is investing further in its Financial Crime Compliance function to support that growth.
The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Line 2 Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Officer with a corporate banking background to join their team. This role will play a key part in supporting governance and controls, advising on and reviewing Customer Due Diligence (CDD) matters, and assisting with transactional escalations across transaction monitoring, filtering, sanctions, and scams.
Key Responsibilities
Support governance and controls work across the FCC function
Advise on and review CDD matters, both internal and external, including AML/CTF legislative requirements
Support transactional escalations, including transaction monitoring, filtering, sanctions, and scams
Review and provide input on CDD files
Triage and assess daily name screening alerts
Contribute to anti-bribery and corruption controls
Help manage and perform risk assessments
Maintain and update the risk and controls libraries
Design and run controls testing
Maintain policies and procedures
Prepare ad-hoc and ongoing reporting
Support incident and findings management
Key Challenges
Managing multiple queries and priorities across different business lines
Ensuring financial crime risks are well understood across the organisation
Making sound, risk-based decisions
Communicating financial crime risks professionally, both verbally and in writing, to a range of teams
About You
Minimum 3 years' experience across various aspects of financial crime, including Australian AML/CTF laws and sanctions regulatory obligations
Prior experience gained within a corporate or wholesale banking environment
Hands-on experience handling CDD matters and transactional alerts, with a general understanding of governance and controls
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and flexibly with minimal oversight
Highly organised, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
Flexible and willing to support other team members as needed
