The Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture (RRJV), a 50/50 partnership between CPB Contractors and Downer, is delivering a landmark $1.7 billion Defence infrastructure program across regional New South Wales.

This once-in-a-generation project will modernise critical Defence facilities across:

• RAAF Base Wagga
• Blamey Barracks Kapooka
• Albury Wodonga Military Area

The program will deliver new accommodation precincts, training facilities, mess buildings, major refurbishments, and essential infrastructure upgrades that will support Defence capability for decades to come.

Due to continued project growth, we are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and influence safety performance across our works at RAAF Base Wagga.

This is far more than a traditional safety management position.

You'll be joining a highly respected joint venture backed by two of Australia's leading construction organisations, with the opportunity to shape safety culture on a nationally significant project.

As Safety Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership across all safety and health activities, helping ensure every person goes home safely every day.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading project-wide safety strategy and culture initiatives
• Mentoring and developing a team of Safety Advisors
• Supporting operational leaders to achieve outstanding safety outcomes
• Facilitating risk assessments, safety workshops, and critical control verification
• Reviewing and implementing SWMS and Contractor Safety Management Plans
• Leading incident investigations and driving corrective actions
• Conducting site inspections, safety observations, and assurance activities
• Supporting workforce engagement through toolbox talks, pre-starts, and training programs
• Monitoring compliance with legislative, contractual, and company requirements
• Contributing to project reporting and continuous improvement initiatives

We're interested in speaking with experienced safety professionals who can influence, lead, and build strong relationships across all levels of a project.

Ideally, you'll have:

✔ 10+ years' experience in construction, infrastructure, or major projects

✔ Demonstrated experience leading project safety teams

✔ Strong knowledge of Australian construction WHS legislation and compliance requirements

✔ Experience implementing and improving Safety and Environmental Management Systems

✔ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

✔ A practical and collaborative leadership style

✔ Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
