About the role
Sydney Psychology Group is looking for an experienced and compassionate Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist to join our growing team of clinicians. We are a boutique private practice in Drummoyne, home to an experienced, professional and supportive team who work collaboratively to help individuals and families. We use evidence-based strategies to support our clients through their challenges, and we serve a wide range of clients from varying backgrounds and across the lifespan.
This contract position offers great flexibility, including the opportunity to start slowly and build up to a volume of work you're comfortable with, all while working autonomously within a warm and supportive team environment. Our team is extremely cohesive and supportive — we genuinely look out for one another, and clinician care and wellbeing sit right alongside client care as a priority for us. Provide evidence-based psychological services (assessment and therapy) to children, adolescents and/or their families, according to client need and your areas of interest
Develop and implement individualised treatment plans tailored to each child or adolescent's developmental stage and presentation
Incorporate play therapy and other creative, evidence-based modalities into sessions where clinically appropriate
Work collaboratively with parents/carers, offering guidance and psychoeducation to support therapeutic progress at home
Liaise with schools, paediatricians, GPs and allied health professionals as part of a multidisciplinary approach to care
Monitor and review client progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed
Manage risk assessment and safety planning for clients presenting with higher acuity needs
Produce clinical letters and reports for referring partners
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with AHPRA and privacy requirements
Full registration as a psychologist with AHPRA and endorsement in Clinical Psychology
Willingness/ability to obtain professional indemnity and public liability insurance
Experience working with children, adolescents and/or families, with a special interest in continuing to grow this area of your practice
Confidence and experience working directly with families as part of the therapeutic process
Experience in play therapy and/or other creative, evidence-based approaches suited to the presentation you're working with
Comfort working as part of a multidisciplinary network, liaising with schools, paediatricians, GPs and allied health professionals
Sound clinical judgement in risk assessment and safety planning
Pursue ongoing professional development and contribute ideas, content, and involvement (e.g. blogs, social media)
Trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Family Interventions, Mindfulness, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Schema Therapy, and/or EMDR
ADHD and/or autism assessment experience highly desirable, including confidence administering standardised assessment tools
