Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible for the effective administration, coordination, and delivery of BY Group construction projects. This role ensures all contractual, financial, WHS, environmental, and client‑related obligations are met while supporting the Project Manager to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare planning permits and documentation for council submission.
• Assist the Project Manager with developing and maintaining programs for on-site work.
• Manage financial aspects of contracts including purchase orders, variations, invoices and progress claims.
• Produce monthly reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of meetings, correspondence and project documentation.
• Administer project start‑up activities including expressions of interest and quote correlation.
• Maintain project margins through effective cost control.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure WHS compliance, assist with audits and verify subcontractor insurances.
• Contribute to environmental planning and compliance.

• Experience in contract administration or project engineering within construction.
• Tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise subcontractors or work teams.
• Experience using GPS equipment on large-scale earthworks projects is highly regarded.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills, including MS Project and project management software (Procore desirable).
• Strong administrative, analytical and project coordination skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities and work across all organisational levels.
