Estimator - Mechanical Building Services HVAC

Full Job Description
You will join a growing team in Townsville, supporting the identification, tendering and securing of mechanical building services projects across North Queensland. You will bring strong HVAC knowledge to the front end of projects, assessing opportunities and developing competitive, commercially sound estimates.

Working across the Sales & Estimating function, you will review tender documentation, complete detailed quantity take-offs and quotations, and collaborate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams. You will also contribute to project inspections, proposals, tender submissions and the development of future opportunities.
This role offers the opportunity to take your technical HVAC experience into a broader commercial and client-facing position. You will work to agreed budgets, deadlines and profitability targets, with Townsville relocation considered for the right candidate.

 
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and source prospective tenders and project opportunities
• Assess tender opportunities and register expressions of interest
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Prepare detailed HVAC estimates, take-offs and quotations
• Complete take-offs for ductwork, piping and mechanical services
• Investigate alternative methodologies and cost-effective solutions
• Coordinate and participate in project and site inspections
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams
• Support proposals and tender submissions
• Maintain and develop a pipeline of future project opportunities
• Build strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders
• Contribute to sales and tender reporting
• Work within agreed budgets, deadlines and profitability targets
 
About you
• Proven experience in HVAC or mechanical services estimating
• Strong knowledge of the building services and HVAC industry
• Sound understanding of HVAC drawings, ductwork and piping
• Experience with quantity take-offs, tenders and quotations
• Ability to assess opportunities from technical and commercial perspectives
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Strong IT skills and intermediate Microsoft Office capability
• Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder communication skills
• Strong client relationship and commercial awareness
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience
