Room Leader

About the role

Discover Early Learning Camillo is seeking three experienced and passionate Room Leaders to join our team in Kelmscott, WA. These are full-time positions that play a vital role in creating a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for children in our care. As Room Leader, you will be responsible for leading a room team, implementing our educational philosophy, and ensuring exceptional care and development outcomes for all children. This position is central to maintaining the high standards of childcare and early education that Discover Early Learning is known for.

Key responsibilities

• Leading and supervising a team of educators and support staff within your designated room

• Planning, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate learning experiences and activities that promote children's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development

• Maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment that meets all regulatory requirements and supports children's wellbeing

• Building positive relationships with children and families, and communicating regularly with parents about their child's progress and development

• Ensuring compliance with all childcare and education regulations, including duty of care, health and safety, and documentation requirements

• Observing and assessing children's development, and using this information to tailor learning experiences to individual needs

• Supporting the professional development and performance of your team members through mentoring, feedback and training

• Collaborating with other room leaders and management to maintain consistent standards across the centre

• Managing room resources, equipment and materials effectively

What we're looking for

• A current childcare qualification (Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or equivalent) as a minimum requirement

• Current First Aid and CPR certification

• Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in an early childhood education and care setting

• Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of educators

• Strong understanding of early childhood development and best practice in early learning

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and children

• A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development and wellbeing

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• Knowledge of relevant childcare regulations and legislation, including the National Quality Framework

• Ability to create inclusive, welcoming environments that respect diversity and cultural differences
