Electrical/PLC Technician

Michell Wool is seeking a Electrical/PLC Technician to join their team!

What you'll be doing?

• PLC & Electrical Maintenance: Serve as the on-site SME for all PLC, HMI, and VSD systems, carrying out both scheduled preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs across plant and machinery.

• Reliability & Continuous Improvement: Develop and execute improvement plans, identifying long-term corrective actions to drive consistent gains in plant performance.

• Safe Work & Compliance: Identify hazards, complete Job Safety Analyses, and follow all safety policies, environmental requirements, and electrical licensing obligations.

• Contractor & Team Coordination: Liaise with contractors on electrical maintenance activities, support colleagues with training needs, and keep the team informed on priorities.

• Apprentice Mentoring & Workshop Standards: Supervise and develop the apprentice electrician while maintaining tools, equipment, and the workshop in clean, serviceable condition.

• Flexible Availability: Be available for occasional after-hours or weekend work when operationally required.

Who are they looking for?

• Licences & Certifications: A current A-Class Electrical Licence, Forklift and Elevated Work Platform licences, and confined space certification are all essential.

• PLC, HMI & VSD Expertise: Extensive hands-on programming experience across PLC, HMI, and VSD systems is essential.

• Maintenance Experience: Preferably with 5 years in industrial maintenance, with a strong background in both preventative and breakdown maintenance in automated continuous-process environments.

• Safety & Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with hazardous substances, strong problem-solving skills, and a reliable eye for detail in a fast-paced plant setting.

• Communication & Attitude: A collaborative team player with clear communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a positive can-do attitude.

• Computer Skills: Competent in Microsoft Office for day-to-day reporting and planning tasks.
