About the role
Greyhound Racing SA Limited (GRSA) is the controlling body of the sport in South Australia, conducting, regulating and promoting the sport from their headquarters in Angle Park. The Company’s primary responsibility is to ensure the responsible and ethical management and participation in the sport through the effective enforcement of local and national rules and conducting race day operations. GRSA is overseen by an independent Board and objectives, as set out in the Constitution, include the regulation, promotion and conduct of the sport, enhancement of the welfare of greyhounds, adoption and ongoing development of best practice integrity standards and the pursuit of financial sustainability for participants by increasing returns to greyhound owners, breeders and trainers. The sport is as popular as ever with our four tracks (Angle Park, Gawler, Mount Gambier and Murray Bridge) combining for over 400 meetings each year with feature events a highlight throughout the year.
Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified persons for the vacant position of Board Director – Legal. Responsibilities include: -
Attending and making significant contributions to monthly Board meetings;
Participating on special purpose committees, including the Governance & Risk Committee;
Providing your legal expertise in support of the Board’s decision-making capacity;
Identifying and developing initiatives designed to add value to the greyhound racing industry;
Being involved in CEO recruitment and performance review processes;
Engaging with industry stakeholders as required;
Reviewing all activities and performance of management; and
Ensuring that decisions made reflect and align with the organisation’s Strategic Plan.
Your legal knowledge and experience, coupled with your professional organisational, governance, problem-solving and strategic planning skills will need to be complemented by flexibility, energy and vision. This represents an opportunity to make a genuine and valuable contribution to the greyhound racing industry in South Australia. Directors are remunerated for their involvement on the Board.
