About the role
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in events, hospitality, venue operations or customer service who enjoys working with people and wants to be part of the vibrant life of Australia's first purpose-built LGBTIQ+ community hub.
Events Officers work closely with the Events team and Pride Centre Volunteers to support the successful delivery of events across the Pride Centre. Duties are varied and include event set-up and pack-down, venue presentation and cleaning, bar service and POS operation, Front of House and ushering, ticket scanning and guest assistance, basic AV support, and working with security to maintain a safe and welcoming environment. You'll also follow venue safety, emergency and security procedures, assist with evacuations when required, and help ensure every visitor, hirer, performer and community member has a positive and inclusive experience at the Pride Centre.
You'll also play an important role in the safe operation of the building, including following venue safety procedures, working alongside security, assisting with emergency evacuations procedures and acting as a Fire Warden when required.
This is a physically active role that involves manual handling, including moving furniture, equipment, speakers, fridges and other event infrastructure, as well as periods of standing and working on your feet.

Previous events or hospitality experience is valued, but we're also interested in people with strong customer service skills, a great attitude and the willingness to learn.

As part of the Events Team, you'll have the opportunity to work across an incredibly diverse range of events and experiences from community gatherings, performances, parties, festivals and event programs.
You'll work alongside a small passionate team while helping create the welcoming and inclusive experience that makes the Pride Centre special.
This is a casual position with shifts offered according to event and operational requirements. Availability during busy programming periods, including Midsumma Festival (January) and Pride Month (June) is required.
Employment is conditional upon satisfactory National Police and Working with Children Checks.
