Senior Refrigeration Engineer

Reporting directly to the Group Manager – R&D, this is a hands-on engineering role where you will be involved throughout the product development process — from initial concept and system design through to prototyping, testing, optimisation, and production release.

What you’ll do

• Design and develop air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems
• Undertake refrigeration system design, component sizing, selection and system integration
• Select and evaluate key components including compressors, heat exchangers, fans, expansion devices and controls
• Conduct laboratory testing, analyse performance data and troubleshoot system issues
• Optimise systems for capacity, efficiency, reliability, cost and manufacturability
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners on component specifications and technical solutions
• Support prototype development, testing, design reviews and product validation
• Ensure products meet relevant Australian safety, performance and compliance requirements
• Manage engineering projects from concept through to product release
• Work collaboratively with R&D, manufacturing, quality and other internal teams
• Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and other team members

About you
You will be an experienced refrigeration or HVAC engineer with strong practical knowledge and a hands-on approach to product development.
You will ideally have:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration, HVAC or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics and system design
• Significant experience in HVAC, refrigeration, heat pump or related product development
• A strong understanding of refrigeration components and system behaviour
• Experience with performance testing, fault finding and design optimisation
• Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing partners
• Knowledge of relevant Australian standards and product compliance requirements
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and project management skills
• The ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing and other functions
