Compactor + GPS Operator

About the role

Haines Bros Earthmoving is seeking an experienced Compactor + GPS Operator to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a key position within our construction operations, based in Wollondilly. You will be responsible for operating compaction equipment whilst utilising GPS technology to ensure precision and accuracy on site. This role is essential to maintaining the quality standards of our earthmoving and civil construction projects, and you will work on-site across various construction and civil works projects throughout the region.

Key responsibilities

• Operate compactors and other compaction machinery safely and efficiently across construction and civil works sites

• Utilise GPS guidance systems to achieve specified grade and level requirements with precision

• Conduct pre-start and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure machinery is in safe working order

• Monitor compaction performance and adjust operations to meet project specifications and quality standards

• Maintain accurate records of daily operations, compaction data and GPS readings

• Communicate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate work activities and ensure project deadlines are met

• Follow all safety protocols and site-specific requirements, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment

• Perform routine maintenance tasks and report any equipment faults or defects to management

• Operate in compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards

What we're looking for

• Current and valid driver's licence (minimum Category C)

• Proven experience operating compaction equipment in a construction or civil engineering environment

• Demonstrated experience with GPS-guided compaction systems and grade control technology

• Current construction induction card (White Card) or willingness to obtain one

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to achieving precise specifications

• Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with site crews

• Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions

• Reliability and a strong safety-conscious attitude

• Relevant plant operation certifications or licences are desirable (such as High Risk Work Licence for plant operation if applicable to your location)
