Campaign and Research Officer

Position overview

The Campaign and Research Officer is responsible for leading the Vic-Tas Branch's research and campaign functions. This role will work closely with the Vic-Tas Media and Communications Team, the National Media and Communications Team, the National Policy and Research Team and the National Campaigns Officer.

The role is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating campaigns and research that advance the Branch's industrial, organising, and member engagement objectives.

Training / qualifications

• Qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Economics or a related discipline.

Required skills, knowledge, experience & attributes

• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing campaign plans.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple areas and manage competing priorities.
• Highly developed stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement in industrially sensitive environments.
• High level computer literacy, including experience with digital communication platforms and content management systems.

Role Accountabilities

• Develop annual campaign plans aligned with Branch priorities.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the Branch's public profile and member engagement and work closely with Vic-Tas Media and Communications Team and the National Media and Communications Team.
• Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of industrial and community campaigns.
• Work closely with Organisers and Legal staff to develop campaign strategies supporting industrial disputes, organising initiatives and member advocacy.
• Coordinate campaign messaging including speech writing, where necessary.
• Prepare copy writing.
• Evaluate campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Monitor digital analytics and prepare reports on campaign performance.
• Undertake research on issues relevant to the construction industry in support of the unions campaigns strategy.
• Provide advice to the Executive on policy matters.
• Prepare submissions on policy matters.
• Contribute to CFMEU publications.
