Senior Technical Writer | ICT Infrastructure

• $180 per hour + superannuation | 12-month PAYG contract

Our ACT Government client, Digital Canberra, is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to support major ICT infrastructure refresh and IT asset management initiatives.
 
This position will be responsible for developing, consolidating and maintaining accurate, consistent and governance-compliant technical documentation. You will work closely with architects, technical specialists, project managers and asset management teams to ensure documentation is standardised, traceable and audit-ready.
 
Key responsibilities

• Create, update and maintain technical design documentation across multiple ICT program streams.
• Consolidate existing technical material into clear and consistent documentation.
• Produce conceptual and detailed system design documents using established templates.
• Work with architects and technical subject-matter experts to validate documentation.
• Translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures to support knowledge transfer and consistent service delivery.
• Prepare governance-compliant documentation packs for boards, design authorities and change forums.
• Apply version control, metadata and documentation standards to ensure auditability.
• Support ICT infrastructure refresh, architecture and IT asset management uplift activities.

About you
 
You will have:

• Extensive experience as a Technical Writer within ICT infrastructure, technology operations or IT asset management environments.
• Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining technical design, architecture, system configuration and operational documentation.
• The ability to standardise and consolidate documentation across complex ICT programs and operational teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working alongside architects, engineers, project managers and technical specialists.
• Advanced written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Microsoft Visio.
• The ability to manage competing priorities within a changing program environment.

Experience with Jira and Confluence, knowledge of the ITIL framework, and relevant technical or industry qualifications will be highly regarded.
Mandatory requirements

• Australian citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Baseline security clearance.
• Successful completion of a Police Check.
• Ability to attend an ACT Government office in Gungahlin for a minimum of one day per week, subject to operational requirements.
