Enter the Role 

This isn’t a typical Store Leader role, because Activate isn’t a typical venue.

As Store Leader, you’ll lead the Melbourne team, own day-to-day operations and make sure every customer has an exceptional experience.

You’ll be hands-on and visible on the floor, working alongside your team, coaching in the moment, supporting customers and solving operational challenges as they arise.

You’ll take ownership of venue standards, team performance, customer experience, technology, maintenance and operational readiness, helping bring the Activate experience to life in Melbourne.

What You'll Own
Store Operations

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Melbourne venue and ensure Activate standards are consistently delivered.
• Maintain a safe, clean and customer-ready environment across the venue.
• Manage rostering and workforce planning to support trading requirements and peak periods.
• Monitor venue performance and identify opportunities to improve operations and customer experience.
• Complete regular venue inspections across front desk, gaming areas and customer spaces.
• Ensure safety, security and operational procedures are followed.
• Support company initiatives, training programs and operational improvements.
• Connect regularly with Operations leaders to share updates, insights and feedback.

Customer Experience

• Create memorable experiences for every customer who visits Activate.
• Keep customer satisfaction at the centre of daily decisions.
• Support the team to deliver exceptional service and confidently handle customer questions and concerns.
• Gather customer feedback and identify opportunities to continuously improve the experience.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach and develop the venue team through recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing development.
• Build an energetic, supportive and accountable team culture.
• Train team members across game operations, customer interactions, venue standards and Activate initiatives.
• Manage performance through regular feedback, coaching and clear expectations.
• Help team members build confidence, capability and opportunities for growth.

Maintenance, Technology & Inventory

• Support the smooth operation of gaming rooms, technology and venue equipment.
• Troubleshoot basic technical and operational issues using established processes.
• Complete basic maintenance tasks when required, including using hand and power tools.
• Escalate technical issues and work with Activate’s global technical support team when required.
• Maintain oversight of inventory, equipment and venue maintenance requirements.
• Ensure the team understands the connection between venue upkeep and an exceptional customer experience.

Market Entry & Readiness

As part of Activate’s Australian launch, you’ll also help establish strong local operating foundations by:

• Maintaining local compliance requirements, branding, signage and operational materials.
• Partnering with internal stakeholders on operational and marketing campaign implementation.
• Supporting training, communication and processes that meet local requirements and help attract and retain high-performing teams.
• Establishing clear communication channels for venue, maintenance and performance updates.
• Providing Operations leadership with accurate and timely updates on venue readiness and performance.

What You'll Bring

We’re looking for someone with:

• Leadership experience in a customer-facing environment such as entertainment, hospitality, retail, fitness or venue management.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing teams while managing day-to-day operations.
• A proven ability to build a strong, collaborative and accountable team culture.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting.
• Confidence working with technology and learning new systems.
• A technical background is not required. We’re looking for someone who is curious, capable and enjoys figuring things out.
