Part-Time Weighbridge Operator

Cover leave to start, with real potential to become an ongoing role for the right person.

We're looking for a friendly, reliable and switched-on person to join our small team at Bago Forest Quarry (CTK Natural Resources) as our Weighbridge Operator. This role is needed initially to cover an extended period of leave, but for the right person there's a genuine chance it develops into a longer-term, ongoing position.

Hours and training

You'll start with about a week of on-the-job training, working:

• 6:30am – 12:00pm, Monday to Friday

After training, the role is expected to mainly cover an afternoon shift:

• 12:00pm – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday

Hours may vary a little depending on what's happening on site, so we'd love to hear from applicants who can offer a bit of flexibility.

About the role

You'll be based at the weighbridge/site office, right at the centre of everything that happens on site day to day. Trucks coming and going, phone calls, customers popping in to place or collect an order — you'll often be the first person our customers, truck drivers and suppliers deal with, whether that's someone who's been coming to us for years or a first-time caller trying to figure out what they need.

It's a varied role: one minute you might be weighing a truck and printing a ticket, the next you're on the phone taking a delivery booking, then helping a customer at the counter or passing on a message to the quarry crew about a load. You won't need any background in quarrying — our production team handles that side of things — but you will need to keep on top of the details, stay calm when it's busy, and make people feel looked after. It's a role where a good attitude and a friendly voice go a long way.

Key responsibilities

• Operating the weighbridge and issuing weighbridge/delivery tickets

• Answering incoming phone calls and taking accurate messages

• Greeting and assisting customers and truck drivers

• Entering information accurately into our computer systems

• General basic administration around the weighbridge

• Communicating with quarry staff about orders and truck movements

• Helping keep the weighbridge and office running smoothly

• Being proactive and finding ways to help out when things are quiet

About you

• Computer literate and happy to learn new systems

• Good attention to detail and accuracy

• Friendly, outgoing and confident dealing with people

• Good telephone manner and communication skills

• Reliable and punctual

• Positive attitude, happy to take initiative

• Comfortable working in a quarry/industrial environment

• Able to work independently once trained

• Keen to pitch in and be part of a small team

Previous weighbridge, admin, transport, quarry, logistics or customer service experience is a bonus, but it's not essential — we'll train the right person. What matters most to us is finding someone dependable, approachable and proactive, with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
