About the role
We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented, and responsible Systems Administrator to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for planning, developing, installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting our core operating systems, server hardware, software, and databases.
The successful candidate will ensure optimum system integrity, high-level security, robust backup infrastructure, and peak performance across the college. We are looking for an individual with strong technical capabilities in system and database administration who can work independently to manage system security and disaster recovery planning in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, develop, install, configure, and maintain core operating systems, server hardware, software, and database infrastructure.
Design and maintain database architecture, data structures, tables, dictionaries, and naming conventions to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all master data files.
Perform operational establishment and preventive maintenance of backups and recovery procedures, enforcing strict security and integrity controls.
Implement and administer comprehensive database documentation, guidelines, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Test database systems and upgrades (including debugging, tracking, reproduction, logging, and resolving identified problems) according to approved quality testing scripts.
Take full responsibility for processes, procedures, and operational management associated with system security and disaster recovery planning (DRP).
Liaise with security vendors, suppliers, and external service providers; analyse, recommend, install, and maintain software security applications; and monitor contractual obligations and SLAs.
Troubleshoot and provide advanced service support in diagnosing, resolving, and repairing server-related hardware and software malfunctions (encompassing workstations and communication infrastructure).
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, policies, instructions, operational procedures, and system logs.
Ensure computer site designs allow all components to fit and work together properly, while monitoring and adjusting network performance.
Continually survey current IT sites to determine future network needs and make strategic recommendations for server and network enhancements.
Assist in maintaining CRM, Student Management Systems (SMS), and overseeing IT asset management.
Skills & Experience
Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in ICT, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Alternatively, at least five (5) years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certifications may substitute for the formal qualification.
Proficient in installing, configuring, and tuning server operating systems (Windows Server / Linux) and virtualization technologies.
Strong database administration skills (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) with a solid understanding of database architecture.
Deep understanding of network security, firewalls, VPNs, server infrastructure, and cloud-based systems (AWS / Azure / Microsoft 365).
Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical, and advanced technical support skills.
Proven experience in preparing technical documentation, IT policies, and disaster recovery plans is highly regarded.
