Retaining Wall Supervisor / Division Lead

About the role

AGS is establishing a new retaining wall division and is looking for an experienced, hands-on person to help build and lead it from the ground up.

This is more than a standard supervisor role. We need someone who understands retaining wall construction in the field but also has the commercial awareness to assist with estimating, planning, client relationships, crew development and profitable growth.

Initially, you will work hands-on across projects while helping establish the systems, suppliers and team required to grow the division. Once established, there is a clear opportunity to move into a senior Division Manager role with responsibility for the overall performance of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead retaining wall projects from initial site review through to completion

• Work hands-on with crews during the establishment phase

• Review drawings, site conditions and project requirements

• Prepare material take-offs, labour allowances and project estimates

• Assist with quoting, pricing and tender submissions

• Plan labour, plant, materials and subcontractors

• Coordinate clients, suppliers, engineers and site personnel

• Manage project quality, safety, programme and commercial performance

• Help recruit, train and develop a capable retaining wall crew

• Establish practical systems, procedures and construction standards

• Identify new opportunities and help grow the division sustainably

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Strong hands-on experience constructing retaining walls

• Experience with systems such as limestone blocks, masonry, concrete panels, post-and-panel walls or similar

• A good understanding of excavation, drainage, footings, set-out and site preparation

• Experience supervising crews and coordinating multiple projects

• The ability to estimate labour, materials, plant and project durations

• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of job profitability

• Good communication and client-management skills

• The drive to take ownership and help establish a new division

• A current driver’s licence and White Card

Experience running your own business, managing a division or helping grow a construction service would be highly regarded.
