About the role:

Part-time position for a Direct Care Leader based in Crystal Brook or Balaklava offices who plays a vital role in mentoring and supporting our support workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to our clients. This role focuses on:

• Supervising and coaching team members in daily service delivery.

• Promoting best practice and continuous improvement across community services.

• Supporting staff development, onboarding and competencies.

• Contributing to quality, safety, and client experience outcomes.

Responsibilities of your role

​​​ Direct Care Supervision 

• ​In collaboration with the Service Support Team Leader ensure that there are adequate numbers of skilled staff and volunteers to deliver outstanding customer service.  
• ​Participate in the selection and recruitment of staff and volunteers within organisational guidelines. 
• ​Coordinate staff meetings 
• ​Induct and train staff and volunteers in operational policies, procedures and work instructions. Including competencies on the field during service delivery and 1:1 buddy shifts. 
• ​Direct or coordinate the activities of staff and volunteers delivering client care. 
• ​Provide ongoing guidance and support to staff and volunteers as they strive to achieve their goals and deliver excellent care to the clients. 
• ​Act as a mentor to staff by providing ongoing advice to staff about job and career opportunities. 
• ​Conduct annual performance reviews for staff reporting to the position ensuring agreed actions are implemented and reviewed within agreed timeframes.  
• ​In collaboration with Care Partners resolve client feedback or complaints regarding staff or volunteer performance. ​ 
• ​Support the necessary disciplinary action to address unsatisfactory staff or volunteer performance. 

​Operations 

• ​Meet with managers or other leaders to stay informed of changes affecting operations.  
• ​​Where appropriate participate in the allocation of work schedules to ensure quality and timely delivery of service. ​ 

​Quality and Safety 

• ​Ensure timely investigation of staff and volunteer incidents and coordinate appropriate remedial and corrective actions to achieve desired outcome. 
• ​Identify and in consultation with other staff implement improvements in direct care provision that enhance the client experience and satisfaction.  
• ​Apply staff, volunteer and client feedback to service improvement efforts.  
• ​Contribute to a safe working environment by reporting hazards, maintaining as safe environment and work practices, adopt relevant policies and procedures and utilise all personal protective equipment. 

We are looking for someone who:

• Demonstrates leadership, initiative, and a positive, supportive approach.

• Has strong communication and organisational skills.

• Holds a Certificate III in Individual Support (or similar) and ideally a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to work towards it).
