Food Safety and Quality Assurance Coordinator

TurOSI Pty Ltd is a privately owned Company with facilities in Victoria, Queensland and NSW, providing a full range of raw and cooked food solutions across a range of proteins and foods to the retail and food service.

An exciting career opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic Food Safety and Quality Assurance Coordinator at our Eagle Farm site in Queensland. This role is for a senior member of the FSQA team. This role has one direct report and will require shift work and some weekend work.

Turosi is currently building, and soon to relocate, to a state-of-the-art purpose-built factory based in Lytton/Port of Brisbane. This is a great opportunity to join us on the journey.

An understanding of HACCP, GMP, Food Microbiology and QA systems with a degree/certificate in a food science/micro is essential.

The role reports to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Verify online that product is compliant with customer specifications, food safety requirements and regulatory bodies (specifically DA)

·         Process QA, production and logistics records as part of the positive release system

·         Conduct Internal & GMP audits

·         Participate and lead external audits by government and certifying bodies

·         Coordinate FSQ Assessor on shift who will report to you

·         Make real time decisions regarding online QA matter and consult with FSQ Manager

·         Assess, investigate and implement corrective and preventive actions for complaints &/or non-conforming products

·         Coordinate Statistical Process Control

·         Coordination of in-process and finished product samples for analytical analysis

·         Coordination of Calibration of quality critical equipment as per schedules

·         Identify and partake in process improvement initiatives

·         Participate in relevant project work as required

·         Ensure that all personnel completing CCP checks are signed off as competent

·         Lead and train staff as required in food safety and quality matters

·         Work with site departments as required to facilitate and maintain QA Systems and facility GMP standards

·         You must be able to work well with a team, be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels, take the initiative, and have good problem-solving skills.

Knowledge/Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualification in Food science Biotechnology or similar industry experience/qualification.

• Relevant industry experience /qualification preferably a range of animal protein experience

• Experience in a leadership role and or, ready to take the next step

• Ability to develop and maintain food safety and quality systems

• Experience in Managing External/Customer Audits, understanding of BRCGS, SQMS and Yum! standards will be desirable 

• Well-developed organisational skills

• Experience developing and teaching others

• Good oral and written communication skills

• Well organized and able to work to agreed timelines with minimal supervision.
