About the Role

Reporting to the Government & Corporate Relations Manager, the Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation, administration and monitoring of GPC's Indigenous Land Use Agreements and associated obligations.

This role is centred on building and maintaining trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), Indigenous organisation and key stakeholders, while ensuring GPC meets its commitments under existing and future Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs).  You will coordinate agreement obligations, support Indigenous engagement activities and provide governance oversight to help deliver positive outcomes for both GPC and its stakeholders.

Success in this role requires strong relationship management skills, cultural awareness, sound judgement, and the ability to navigate complex and sensitive matters with professionalism and respect.  

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will: 

• Coordinate the implementation, administration and monitoring of Indigenous Land Use Agreements and associated commitments.
• Establish and maintain governance systems, obligations registers and reporting frameworks.
• Build and maintain positive, long-term relationships with Traditional Owners, PBCs, Indigenous organisations and community representatives.
• Support Indigenous engagement and Cultural Heritage activities across projects and operations.
• Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders and assist in managing competing priorities and interests.
• Prepare reports, briefing papers, correspondence and committee documentation.
• Provide advice and support to internal stakeholders regarding agreement obligations, compliance requirements and governance processes.
• Coordinate input from legal, environmental, planning, operational and community stakeholders to support agreement implementation and compliance.

• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and organisations.
• Cultural awareness, humility and a genuine commitment to respectful engagement with First Nations and Australian South Sea Islander peoples.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience coordinating agreements, governance processes, compliance activities or complex administrative functions.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
• High levels of integrity, professionalism and sound judgement when handling sensitive information and complex issues.

Qualifications and Requirements

Mandatory:

• C Class Driver’s Licence
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)

Desirable:

• Certificate III or IV in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Native Title, Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs), Cultural Heritage management or related legislative frameworks.
• Experience working with Traditional Owners, Indigenous organisations or community representatives.
• Experience in a port, infrastructure, resources, energy, government, land management or other highly regulated environment.
