We are seeking an experienced and solutions-focused Traffic Management Planner to join our high-performing team based in Landsdale, Western Australia.

About the Role

This is an end-to-end position combining client engagement, site assessment, resource planning, traffic management design and operational compliance.

As our Traffic Management Planner, you will take ownership of the planning process from the initial client enquiry and project scoping stage through to plan development, approval, implementation and onsite auditing.

You will work directly with clients to understand their upcoming site requirements and scope of works, translating this information into practical traffic management solutions. This includes identifying the personnel, vehicles, equipment, signage and other resources that may be required to safely and effectively deliver the proposed traffic management arrangements.

The role requires regular travel to project locations to inspect work zones, complete site-specific risk assessments and capture time-stamped photographs and other relevant site information. These assessments will form the practical basis of the Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes you develop.

You will also remain involved after the plans are approved and implemented. Working alongside our Traffic Management Operations and HSEQ teams, you will audit work sites, assess compliance with approved plans and contribute to the continual improvement of Oaks’ safety, quality and operational practices.

Key Responsibilities

Client Consultation and Project Preparation

• Communicate directly with clients regarding upcoming works, site requirements, project timeframes and proposed activities

• Review and interpret scopes of work, drawings, work methodologies and other relevant project information

• Identify missing information and work with clients and internal stakeholders to clarify project requirements

• Translate client requirements into practical, safe and compliant traffic management solutions

• Determine the estimated traffic management resources required for each project, including personnel, vehicles, equipment, signage and traffic control devices

• Provide traffic management resource information to support project planning, estimating and service delivery

• Maintain clear communication with clients throughout the planning, approval and delivery process

Site Assessment and Risk Planning

• Travel to proposed work sites to assess the physical work environment and surrounding road network

• Complete documented, site-specific risk assessments before commencing the design process

• Capture and maintain time-stamped photographs of work zones, access points, road conditions and other relevant site features

• Identify potential risks affecting workers, road users, pedestrians, cyclists, nearby properties and other stakeholders

• Consider staging, access, traffic volumes, work-zone constraints, detours, pedestrian movements and emergency access requirements

• Confirm that proposed traffic management arrangements are practical and suitable for the actual site conditions

Traffic Management Design and Approvals

• Develop compliant Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs) for infrastructure, maintenance and civil works

• Prepare plans using RapidPlan or AutoCAD in accordance with current Road Authority requirements, applicable legislation, standards and guidelines

• Incorporate client requirements, site assessment findings, risk controls and operational resource requirements into each design

• Coordinate plan submissions and liaise with clients, contractors, local governments, Main Roads WA and other relevant approving authorities

• Review and revise plans in response to changes in scope, site conditions, client feedback or approval requirements

• Maintain accurate planning records, risk assessments, site photographs, approvals and plan revisions throughout the project lifecycle

• Manage multiple projects and meet client, operational and approval deadlines

Implementation and Operational Compliance

• Work closely with the Traffic Management Operations team to support the practical implementation of approved plans

• Clearly communicate plan requirements, site-specific risks and resource needs to the employees responsible for onsite delivery

• Attend work sites to audit the implementation of TMPs and TGSs

• Support the prompt correction and documentation of onsite non-compliance

• Review whether implemented plans remain suitable when site conditions or work activities change

• Contribute to operational reviews and the ongoing improvement of traffic management planning and delivery practices

Safety, Quality and Continual Improvement

• Contribute to Oaks Civil Construction’s health, safety and quality management practices

• Promote accountability for the safe and compliant establishment, operation and removal of traffic management work zones

• Assist with site inspections, internal audits and compliance monitoring across traffic management operations

• Support the investigation and resolution of traffic management incidents, hazards, non-conformances and client concerns

• Use audit findings and operational feedback to improve future plans and design practices

• Maintain a consistently high standard of accuracy, documentation and professional accountability

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Current Advanced Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Control accreditations

• Proven experience developing Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes, including for complex works

• At least five years of practical, on-site traffic management experience

• Strong knowledge of Main Roads WA requirements and relevant Western Australian legislation, standards and guidelines

• Demonstrated proficiency in RapidPlan or AutoCAD traffic management design software

• Strong planning, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Confidence engaging with clients, contractors and approving authorities

• The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a collaborative, fast-paced team

• Unrestricted WA driver’s licence

• Construction White Card
