Retail & Sales Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a enthusiastic and customer-focused Retail & Sales Assistant (Junior and Senior) to join the team at Poolwerx Gladstone. This is a casual position based in Gladstone, QLD, applicant must be available to work Saturdays and Summer holidays.

As a Retail & Sales Assistant, you will be the face of our business, delivering exceptional customer service whilst supporting the day-to-day retail operations. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment for our customers and driving sales through knowledgeable product recommendations and genuine engagement.

What you'll be doing

• Greeting customers with a warm, professional demeanour and assisting them with product enquiries and purchases

• Providing expert advice on pool maintenance products, equipment and services to help customers find the right solutions

• Processing sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handling cash and card payments responsibly

• Maintaining a clean, organised and visually appealing retail environment by restocking shelves and arranging displays

• Building relationships with regular customers to encourage repeat business and customer loyalty

• Assisting with inventory management, including stock counting and reporting on product levels

• Supporting promotional activities and campaigns to help drive sales and awareness

• Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent customer experiences

What we're looking for

• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner

• A genuine enthusiasm for retail and sales, with a customer-first mindset

• Basic numeracy skills and competence with point-of-sale systems (training will be provided)

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment

• Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied hours including weekends if required

• Physical capability to lift and move stock items safely

• Prior retail or customer service experience is advantageous but not essential; we are willing to train the right candidate

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn about pool maintenance products and industry knowledge
