We are currently looking for a passionate and highly dedicated Sous Chef to join our Black Bar Team at The Star Sydney.

A few of your responsibilities:

• Assist Restaurant Executive chef to manage the effectiveness of guest service, team members performance and development and service enhancements
• Oversee Black Bar kitchen by supervising and leading by example
• Train and coach Jr Sous, Commis and Demi Chefs, and guide employees to perform kitchen operations
• Ensure venue complies with HACCP standards by conducting daily monitoring and walkthroughs of the back of house
• Review stocktake daily and ensure appropriate orders have been made and stock received
• Rostering, ordering, training and etc

What we are looking for:

• Jr Sous Chef/ Sous Chef experience within fine dining restaurants
• Experience with woodfire cooking
• Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
• Strong understanding of produce, culinary techniques, and kitchen equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to commit to 40 hours per week working varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
