• Assisting in product design and development of mechanical systems
• Preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work
• Assisting Mechanical Engineers and Technologists in design of equipment and plant
• Selecting the appropriate tools and equipment for each mechanical function
• Estimating parts and costs based on automation requirements
• Providing technical support to clients, including selecting equipment and components to meet client needs and goals
• Assembling and installing new modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls
• Performing and directing field product tests
• Collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams
• Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant
• Ensuring designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions

The candidate will be required to show the following skills and requirements:

• Relevant AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician (or similar position)
• Strong analytical and diagnostics skills
• Efficient with good attention to detail
• Ability to work unsupervised
