With more than 200 beds and over 900 caregivers, we provide an extensive range of health care services including day surgery, cancer, cardiac and maternity care.
Are you an experienced Registered Nurse looking to join a supportive surgical team where you can make a real difference to the patient journey?
At St John of God Berwick Hospital, you will be part of a collaborative and dedicated nursing team committed to delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate care to our patients, their families and significant others.
We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Ward in a permanent part-time capacity 22.5 hrs per week working either day shift 7-1500 or late shift 1430-2230.
About the Surgical Ward
Our Surgical Ward provides specialised care to patients undergoing a range of orthopaedic and neurosurgical procedures, as well as patients requiring comprehensive post-operative care and pain management.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse with recent surgical experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering patient-centred care. You will work closely with patients, their families and our multidisciplinary team to support safe recovery and positive clinical outcomes throughout the patient journey.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse, you will:
Deliver safe, high-quality and patient-centred nursing care to patients across their surgical journey.
Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, including relevant risk assessments, and develop, implement and evaluate individualised care plans.
Provide evidence-based clinical care to patients undergoing orthopaedic and neurosurgical procedures, including post-operative monitoring and pain management.
Work collaboratively with surgeons, allied health professionals, medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Involve patients and, where appropriate, their families and significant others in the planning and delivery of care.
Maintain accurate, timely and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with organisational and professional requirements.
Apply competency-driven practice and nationally recognised nursing competencies to support safe and effective clinical care.
Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's clinical condition, escalating concerns in a timely manner.
Contribute to a positive patient experience by providing compassionate, respectful and person-centred care.
Participate in handover, clinical meetings and quality improvement activities that support safe and effective service delivery.
Engage in ongoing professional development, including in-service education, mandatory training and opportunities to further develop your clinical skills.
Contribute to a positive team culture and support the ongoing development of nursing practice within the ward.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be a Registered Nurse with:
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Recent and relevant clinical experience within a surgical nursing environment.
Experience caring for patients undergoing orthopaedic and/or neurosurgical procedures will be highly regarded.
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
A commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, families and colleagues.
The ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
A commitment to professional development and maintaining contemporary clinical knowledge and skills.
The Benefits
Salary: $85,480 to $107,881 per annum (pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
Permanent part-time position, up to 54 hours per fortnight on permanent night shift.
