The Role
The Senior Intelligence Analyst contributes to Defence's decision advantage by delivering timely, accurate and evidence-based analysis that supports strategic decision-making. Working within a highly secure environment, the role integrates intelligence, research and information from multiple sources to assess emerging risks, vulnerabilities and issues that may affect Defence capability, resilience and preparedness.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the successful applicant will apply intelligence tradecraft, critical thinking and professional judgement to complex and often ambiguous challenges. They will produce high-quality assessments, briefs and advice for senior decision-makers while contributing to the development of an emerging analytical capability supporting Defence's future operating environment and capability delivery mission.

About our Team
This position sits within the Defence Delivery Group (DDG), which is transitioning toward the future Defence Delivery Agency (DDA). The team supports Defence's mission to accelerate capability delivery while strengthening assurance, resilience and informed decision-making across the capability lifecycle. You will join a multidisciplinary team of APS employees and Defence Reservists working on complex national security, capability and strategic challenges.
The team combines expertise in intelligence, strategic assessment, preparedness, capability assurance and enterprise risk to provide integrated analysis and decision support to senior leaders. The role offers a unique opportunity to help shape an emerging analytical function supporting the future Defence Delivery Agency while contributing to Defence's ability to deliver safe, secure and effective capability to the warfighter.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate is an intellectually curious and highly capable analyst who enjoys solving complex problems and making sense of uncertainty. They are able to identify key insights from diverse information sources, evaluate competing perspectives and produce balanced, evidence-based assessments. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong analytical, research and communication skills, along with sound judgement and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and highly secure environment.
They will be comfortable engaging with stakeholders, presenting complex information clearly and contributing to team outcomes. Experience in intelligence, national security, Defence, strategic assessment, preparedness, enterprise risk or related analytical disciplines will be highly regarded, as will experience applying structured analytical techniques and intelligence tradecraft.
EligibilitySecurity Clearance:
Prior to commencement, successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment.
