Bookkeeper – Public Practice

BR Accountants is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper who is highly skilled in using Xero and bookkeeping fundamentals to perform day-to-day processing for a varied client base, and also contribute meaningfully to an already well-established public accounting practice. We are based in West Burleigh and service a range of clients across the Gold Coast, the rest of Queensland, the Northern Rivers and interstate.

What you will be doing:

• Manage full-cycle bookkeeping across a client portfolio

• Perform bank, credit card and intercompany reconciliations

• Process payroll (end-to-end)

• Process Accounts Payable and Receivable

• Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and payroll-related reporting such as STP and TPAR

• Payroll tax preparation

• Prepare any other required reporting to support accounting colleagues or to meet clients business needs

• Review work when/if required of any junior team members

What you will bring:

• Significant bookkeeping experience, ideally in a public practice or client-facing role.

• Solid understanding of Xero and related add-ons; experience with other cloud-based tools is a bonus.

• Excellent communication skills - you enjoy working closely with clients and understanding their businesses.

• A proactive mindset with a focus on quality and team success.

• Previous preparation of financial statements for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts would be well regarded.

About the position?

• 2-3 days per week, initially in the office but with the possibility of working some days remotely

• A casual contract with a guaranteed minimum number of hours per week

• Contract bookkeepers welcome to apply

• Hourly rate commensurate with experience

• Modern office close to M1
