Primary objective
Provide support to the Registrar, Child Protection Offender Register (CPOR) in the implementation and maintenance of the Northern
Territory (NT) CPOR, the Australian National Child Offenders Register (ANCOR) and police indices on behalf of the Commissioner.
Additionally, provide support and advice to police members where it relates to the legislative requirements and case management of
reportable offenders.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Gather, analyse and evaluate information for the creation and maintenance of case management files in addition to uploading to police
information systems, the NT CPOR and the ANCOR.
2. Initiate and track tasks via police systems to designated target managers for the ongoing case management of reportable offenders.
3. Review weekly prisoner lists; police indices and all relevant reports to detect and alert target managers to reportable offender
movements and any possible breaches of reporting obligations.
4. Provide advice to police officers, target managers, internal and external agencies on the CPORR Act legislative requirements.
5. Communicate with interstate and foreign law enforcement agencies to obtain and exchange information.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Applicants must have demonstrated experience with legislative interpretation and statutory compliance within a professional
environment.
2. Possess practical experience in researching, evaluating and disseminating data from internal and external sources and databases.
3. Possess a high level of written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively interact and communicate with people
from internal and external agencies and in particular, difficult clients.
4. Practical experience in interpreting sentencing outcomes within the criminal justice system.
5. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workloads and work under pressure with competing deadlines and minimal supervision,
whilst exercising initiative and flexibility in a team environment.
6. Demonstrated high level computer skills, with experience in word processing applications, spreadsheets and information management
systems.
7. Possess a highly developed degree of integrity, with an ability to handle highly sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
Interact effectively with people of diverse cultures and the knowledge of the principles of Equity and Diversity.
Desirable
1. Practical experience in the use of police and associated information systems, in particular, PROMIS, IJIS and MOVERS.
