Factory/Operations Manager – Pet Food Manufacture

Our products are marketed under our own brands as well as being packed under private label and sold nationally throughout the pet professional market, supermarkets, mass merchandisers and exported to a number of Asia Pacific markets.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic person to fill a fulltime position as factory manager at our Tullamarine facility to work in key areas of factory management, planning, processing and packing of pet treat products and to manage the factory processes from order to on time delivery. The person chosen will be fully supported by the business owners and senior management in all aspects of the role.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the procurement of raw materials and ingredients from industry suppliers.

• Manage all areas of plant production, packing and planning.

• Managing staffing requirements, training and monitoring performance.

• Maintaining occupational health and safety requirements and a safe working environment.

• Monitoring production output and costs.

• Manage the day to day manufacturing to ensure product meets all quality standards as set out by our quality management systems as determine our QA manager.

• Maintain factory accreditations and work with our QA Manager to ensure we meet factory audit standards.

• Implement improvements and cost saving measures.

• Engage in product development and research with other staff.

• Oversee all warehouse and inventory control at the site.

About you

• Enthusiastic, reliable and self-motivated.

• Excellent management and people skills.

• Ability to work independently in a factory environment and be part of the senior management team.

• Good level of communication skill.

• Experience in meat processing, smallgoods or pet food industry production is preferred.

• Similar roles in other food manufacturing sectors is also highly regarded.

The Person

We seek an enthusiastic reliable and self-motivated person with excellent management and people skills and the ability to work independently in a factory environment and be part of the senior management team. A good level of communication skill is required and experience in meat processing, smallgoods or pet food industry production is preferred, however similar roles in other food manufacturing sectors is also highly regarded.
