About the role:

Opportunity for a General Paediatrician or Community Paediatrician to join our multidisciplinary paediatric team as a casual locum for outpatient services. 

Current opportunity for regular clinics at our Melton Health campus between September 2026 and March 2027 for up to 2 days per week. Western Health regularly has opportunities for outpatient locum work at each of our sites; Melton Health, Bacchus Marsh Hospital, and Sunshine Hospital.  

Key responsibilities:

Melton Health has a busy paediatric ambulatory service which specialises in the assessment and management of children with complex developmental and behavioural needs, including multidisciplinary autism assessment clinics and Pathways to Good Health clinics. Experience in multidisciplinary assessments for neurodevelopmental conditions will be highly regarded. There is a strong collegiate approach from the multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, and physiotherapists and there are ample opportunities for peer discussion. The unit runs group programs and individual assessment clinics in a collaborative manner, providing Best Care to the children in the western suburbs.

General Paediatric, Neonatal, and Developmental Paediatric clinics are also provided at the Bacchus Marsh Hospital and Sunshine Hospital sites.   

About you: 

• You will have FRACP-recognised qualifications in Paediatrics and Child Health and hold AHPRA specialist registration. 
• You will have experience in the assessment and management of complex behavioural or developmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorders.
• You will have a strong commitment to client-centred care and encourage consumer participation, shared decision-making and continuity of care.
• You will contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model professionalism with respect to respectful collaboration, effective. communication, and ethical clinical care within the multidisciplinary team.
• You will actively participate in teaching and supervision of peers, Junior Medical Staff and medical students.
