Payroll Officer

The Payroll Officer ensures all employees are remunerated on time and correctly. The role encompasses a number of ancillary functions including the calculation for payment of payroll tax, superannuation, and workers compensation premiums, and administration of long service leave. The role requires a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, awards, and other industrial instruments.

More specifically your duties will include the following:

• Collate and verify documents affecting pay cycle

• Record updates in HRIS

• Prepare and process pay runs

• Administer pay queries

• Lodge tax documents

• Register new employees with nominated super fund

• Calculate days worked and submit annual returns for Long Service Leave

• Maintain, record, and reconcile YTD payroll as required for both payroll tax and workers’ compensation premiums

In determining suitability for the role, the following criteria are considered essential:

• Demonstrated experience working in a position demanding a high degree of integrity and trust

• Knowledge of awards and other industrial instruments

• Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures

• Intermediate level of computing and technical skills including Microsoft Office and applicable payroll systems

• Ability to work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders

• Ability to identify and query data anomalies

• Ability to demonstrate enhanced verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to engage with third party portals
