Effective Altruism is about asking one question: how can we do the most good?
The global effective altruism community—an international network of researchers, donors, and nonprofits—uses evidence and reason to explore that question. Over the past decade, this research has revealed some surprisingly powerful ways to improve lives and tackle global challenges.
While there's always uncertainty about what truly helps the most, rigorous research consistently shows that some programs achieve 10-100 times more impact per dollar than others. That's where Effective Altruism Australia comes in. We're part of this global movement, focused on helping Australians take action on the best opportunities we currently know of to make a meaningful difference.

Effective Altruism Australia helps Australians maximise the positive impact of your donations, and your time.
Since 2016, Australians have donated over $30 million through Effective Altruism Australia to charities with strong evidence of effectiveness. These programs are among the best-studied and most cost-effective ways we know to save and improve lives. Beyond donations, we also connect people with high-impact career paths and advocacy opportunities.
As one of the wealthiest countries in the world, Australians are in a remarkable position to create change through our giving, careers, and advocacy. Effective Altruism Australia exists to help you use those resources to do as much good as possible—with humility, transparency, and a commitment to learning as we go.

Prof. Peter Singer AC World-renowned philosopher
Helping others is a great idea, but it’s tragic when people don’t direct their money or time most effectively, and so do a tenth, or even a hundredth, as much good as they could have done. Effective Altruism enables us to do the most good we can.
