ABBA Engineering is a Kalgoorlie-based mining services contractor specialising in fixed plant maintenance, structural steel, piping, fabrication, shutdown execution, and project delivery across major WA mining operations.

We are currently seeking an experienced Site and Services Supervisor — or a highly capable Senior Leading Hand ready to step into a supervisory role — to lead field crews across shutdowns, fixed plant maintenance, and structural project works.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can drive safe execution, lead crews under pressure, and deliver consistent production outcomes in a dynamic mining environment.

Roster arrangements are determined based on project requirements, operational needs, and candidate suitability.

Stable, long-term workload pipeline

You will be involved in a diverse and sustained scope of works, including:

• Fixed plant shutdown execution

• Structural steel maintenance and installation

• Conveyor systems (install, repair, upgrade)

• Chutes, hoppers, skids, and heavy steel fabrication works

• Piping support and associated mechanical works

• Breakdown response and corrective maintenance

• Project and planned maintenance scopes

This is not a layered corporate structure. You will have direct influence over:

• Crew performance and productivity

• Site execution and delivery standards

• Client communication and relationship management

• Safety leadership and compliance outcomes

• Workforce development and mentoring of Leading Hands and trades

About the Role

As Site and Services Supervisor, you will lead a team of competent boilermakers delivering fixed plant, structural, and shutdown works across active mining operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading boilermaker, fitter, and mixed trade crews on site

• Coordinating shutdown and maintenance work fronts

• Planning daily execution and labour allocation

• Running pre-starts, toolbox talks, and site safety systems

• Managing permits, compliance, and high-risk work controls

• Driving productivity, quality, and schedule adherence

• Identifying risks, delays, and variation opportunities early

• Liaising with client supervisors, planners, and operations teams

• Mentoring Leading Hands and developing crew capability

We are seeking strong operational leaders from heavy industry environments. Applications are encouraged from:

• Experienced Site Supervisors

• Shutdown / SMP / Fixed Plant / Structural Supervisors

• Senior Leading Hands ready to step into supervision

• Boilermaker or Mechanical trade backgrounds with leadership experience

Essential Requirements

• Trade qualification (Boilermaker, Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent heavy industry trade)

• Demonstrated supervisory experience in mining, shutdown, or heavy industrial environments

• Strong understanding of high-risk work systems, permits, and safety compliance

• Proven ability to manage crews, productivity, and site execution

• Strong communication skills with crews, clients, and management

• Ability to lead under pressure and resolve operational issues in real time

• Statutory supervisor qualification (essential)

Highly Regarded

• Structural steel / SMP project experience

• Dogging and rigging exposure

• Working at Heights / Confined Space / EWP/HR or MR license

• WA mining or Goldfields experience
