 About the role

We are seeking a reliable, friendly and detail-oriented Administrator Officer / Yard Cashier to join our busy scrap metal yard.

This is a hands-on customer service and administrative position in a fast-paced industrial environment. You will be responsible for assisting customers, processing scrap metal purchase transactions, preparing Recipient Created Tax Invoices (RCTIs), handling payments and maintaining accurate records.

You will work closely with customers, weighbridge operators and yard staff to help ensure transactions are processed efficiently and the daily operations of the yard run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide friendly, efficient service

• Process scrap metal purchase transactions and customer payments

• Prepare and issue accurate Recipient Created Tax Invoices (RCTIs) -Final check of RCTI’s re pricing / weights etc before issuing to customers

• Accurately record material descriptions, weights, rates, GST and payment totals

• Handle cash and electronic payments accurately and securely

• Balance the cash register and reconcile daily transactions - in MYOB Advanced and reconcile / balance weighbridge software transactions to MYOB – purchases and sales

• Maintain accurate RCTI, payment and customer records

• Answer telephone calls and respond to customer enquiries

• Maintain an organised cashier office and filing system

• Assist with general administrative duties as required

• Follow company procedures, workplace health and safety requirements, and applicable scrap metal record-keeping obligations

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience in a cashier, customer service, accounts or administrative role

• Experience with using MYOB Advanced (preferable) - Experience with accounting Software is a must

• Strong cash-handling, numerical and reconciliation skills

• Good computer and data-entry skills

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Clear and professional communication skills

• A friendly and helpful approach to customer service

• The ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods

• Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team

• A commitment to workplace health and safety

• The ability to work comfortably in an industrial scrap yard environment

• Experience preparing RCTIs, tax invoices or similar financial documents will be highly regarded. Knowledge of GST and ABN requirements, or previous experience in the scrap metal, recycling, transport, construction or waste industry, would be an advantage but is not essential. Training will be provided to the right candidate.
